Uruguay makes masks compulsory in certain situations

In view of an increased number of cases of COVID-19, health officials of Uruguay have resumed the compulsory use of masks indoors.

Due to an increase in influenza cases, masks are once again required in treatment centers and advised in public transportation.

The Ministry of Health has made a report making mask usage compulsory in certain situations and strongly recommended in others. "The portfolio believes it is essential to provide for the mandatory use of a face mask in the following situations: people with respiratory infections who sustain interaction with people for the period of their illnesses, till the condition is diagnosed, healthcare staff who provide frequent care to patients.

Face masks are also strongly suggested by the Ministry of Health for persons who utilize public transportation without symptoms.
