On Thursday, Tokyo confirmed 3,391 new COVID-19 cases, a decrease of about 800 from the previous week, as a nationwide decline in infections continues.

For the 13th day in a row, the capital saw a decrease in new cases week over week.

The seven-day average of new cases in Tokyo was 3,281.4, compared to 3,689.0 the previous week.

The number of patients with severe symptoms decreased by one from Wednesday to three, while 10 new COVID-19 deaths were reported.

On Wednesday, 35,190 new cases were reported across the country, a decrease of 6,961 from the previous week.

There were 43 new COVID-19 fatalities in Japan. The number of patients suffering from severe symptoms increased by three on Tuesday, to 103.
