The National Institute of Public Health (SZ) confirmed three new cases of monkeypox in the Czech Republic, in two samples sent to the Central Military Hospital in Prague (VN) and one from Bulovka Teaching Hospital, bringing the total number of cases in the Czech Republic to five.
The SZ is not currently analyzing any additional samples. Nevertheless, contacts of infected people will be tracked by the regional public health office.
The first case involved a person who participated in a celebration in Belgium, and the second involved the index case's contact. One of the new infections involved a contact from an earlier known case.
The sources of the other new cases were kept anonymous. According to the SZ, all five people have a mild variant of the virus with a 1% chance of death.
