The United Arab Emirates has completed its National COVID-19 Vaccination Campaign, according to the state news agency (WAM), with 100% of the targeted populations immunized.
The national campaign aimed to vaccinate and immunize front-line workers, volunteers, and those in the age groups designated by the type of vaccine, as well as the elderly and those suffering from chronic conditions.
The UAE has collaborated with the Ministry of Health and Prevention to make the COVID-19 immunization available to citizens and residents in order to build acquired immunity and thereby reduce the number of COVID-19 cases and transmission of the virus.
According to a report issued earlier this year by Our World In Data, the UAE placed top among nations with populations of over one million in terms of fully vaccinated residents in the fight against the COVID-19 outbreak.
Furthermore, the UAE placed second in the world in terms of the number of tests performed per 1,000 people, fourth in terms of the number of vaccinated persons per 100 people, and first in terms of recipients receiving at least one vaccination dosage.
