Monkeypox is now considered as a infectious disease in Latvia
On June 14th, the Latvian government added monkeypox to the list of contagious diseases, emphasizing its danger to both humans and animals.
SPKC has begun registering people who have Monkeypox and doing epidemiological research. A separate decision must be made to approve a unified Cabinet procedure.
The procedures for conducting lab tests on Monkeypox suspects are laid forth in the regulations. Information sharing between SPKC, Food and Veterinary Service (PVD) as well as WHO is governed by legislation, the Ministry of Health has stated to BNN.
Monkeypox was then reported in several nations. By the end of May, 23 countries had recorded cases of Monkeypox infecting more people and spreading dangerously fast. On June 3rd, Latvia reported two instances of monkeypox.
