Denmark is expected to receive 200 monkeypox vaccines from the Netherlands as a result of the government's decision to vaccinate close contacts of all confirmed infections.
Denmark also intends to purchase 1000 more vaccines. âOn Friday, we will accept two hundred monkeypox vaccines from the Dutch government,â comments Health Minister Magnus Heunicke.
The monkeypox vaccines will be developed by Bavarian Nordic, a Danish biotech firm that has received licensing approval from the United States for use against the illness.
The Danish Health Authority has hinted that it may recommend mass vaccinations for close contact of people infected with monkeypox.
Although the CDC considers it to be low risk, the Norwegian Statens Serum Institut conducted an assessment that concludes society is at low or very little risk from infection, but more infections are expected.
