Albuminar, also known as Albumin Human (Intravenous Route), is an injectable drug used to treat a range of conditions related to low blood volume, hypoalbuminemia, and severe injuries. US Brand Names like Albuked 25, Albuked 5, Albumarc, Albuminar, Alburx, Albutein, Buminate, Flexbumin, Kedbumin, and Plasbumin may be used, as well as Canadian Brand Name Flexbumin 25%.
Uses
Albumin (human) injection is used to treat low blood volume (hypovolemia), low albumin levels in the blood (hypoalbuminemia) resulting from various causes such as malnutrition, burns, major injury, infections, pancreatitis, or bleeding, as well as to replace protein loss resulting from severe burns. This medication is also used to treat hypoalbuminemia in patients with severe injuries, infections, or pancreatitis when nutritional supplements have been given but did not work, to correct lower osmotic pressure in the blood and to prime the blood during cardiopulmonary bypass surgery. Flexbumin 25% is used to treat fluid swelling in the lungs, hypoproteinemia in patients with adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), and swelling in patients with severe nephrosis. It is also used to treat hemolytic disease of the newborn (HDN) in babies.
