Latvia does away with COVID certificates for teachers

According to the Ministry of School and Science, prerequisites for a Covid-19 vaccine or certificate of recovery in the educational sector will be eliminated on July 1.

The revisions to the regulations on epidemiological security precautions established by the Ministry of Science and Education to restrict the transmission of Covid-19 infection indicate the elimination of the necessity. On Tuesday, the administration agreed to amend the bill.

Pupils looking for a summer employment can work in the education system or offer nanny services during the summer holidays without requiring a vaccine or the recovery of a certificate, according to the revisions.

However, the laws allow the employer to select which professions require a Covid-19 certificate and which don't, based on their assessment of the possible danger to employees and the health of others.
