Egypt  is considering collaborating with Zambia on health issues

Egypt’s Minister of Higher Edu and Scientific Research, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, as well as Acting Minister of Health and Population, has called for simplified procedures for registration of Egyptian drugs in Zambia.

On the sidelines of the first African Medical Conference, “Africa Health ExCon,” Abdel Ghaffar met with his Zambian counterpart, Silvia Masebo, and Topoli Mulambo Lubaya, Zambia’s Ambassador to Egypt.

The meeting’s purpose was to discuss ways to collaborate in order to improve health systems and to support the health sector.

During the meeting, the minister emphasised Egypt’s willingness to assist African countries, including Zambia, in achieving health security, citing collaboration with Egypt’s the Unified Procurement Authority and Drug Authority to discuss how Zambia can benefit from Egyptian experiences and expertise in the pharmaceutical industries.

According to a Ministry of Health and Population official spokesperson, the meeting addressed ways to advance and broaden cooperation between the two nations in the fields of manufacturing and importing medicines in the Zambian market, as Egypt is one of Zambia’s largest exporters of medicines.
