Following his departure, Bovio will assume the role of President at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center and Coastal Market in the Wilmington, North Carolina region.

He also oversaw significant growth and expansion of the health system. Notable accomplishments during his tenure include the opening of a new 50-bed community hospital in Holly Springs, a new Cancer Center, and receiving consistent 'A' grades for patient safety and care from the Leapfrog Group. This consistent high performance has solidified UNC Health Rex's position as one of the top hospitals in North Carolina.

Bovio was instrumental in the unification of operations between UNC Health Rex and UNC Health Johnston.
