Omicron could be more Dangerous than we thought says research

Omicron illustrates that we shouldn’t be complacent about our immunity to COVID-19.  

According to Asst. Prof. Lyubomira Nikolaeva-Glomb, Head of the Department of Virology at the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases of Bulgaria, although the infection is milder, it is not for people at risk.

She expressed disappointment of the fact that Bulgaria’s immunization rate never exceeded 30%. Because of our recent experience with the COVID-19 vaccines, we know that the immunity it provides is temporary but effective in preventing serious disease, in-patient treatment, and even death. 

The wise thing to do is to be fully vaccinated in anticipation of the following season. The Professor reminded that work is underway for a complex vaccine against the flu and COVID-19.

According to her, monkeypox is very likely to come to Bulgaria, as it is already present in neighboring countries.

Bulgaria will someday be infected by any infectious disease which occurs around the world. “We’re not isolated,” said the virologist. Over 2,000 cases had been reported worldwide, she added, but the evidence proved it wasn’t a very dangerous.
