India has registered 4,518 new coronavirus infections, according to data out by the Union Health Ministry on Monday, increasing the overall number of COVID-19 cases to 4,31,81,335 and the number of active cases to 25,782. As per numbers revised at 8 a.m., the dead toll had increased to 5,24,701 people. Active cases are for 0.06 percent of total infections, according to the government, with a COVID-19 recovery rate of 98.73 percent nationwide. The active COVID-19 caseload climbed by 1,730 cases in just 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was 1.62 percent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.91 percent, As per the ministry. With a 1.22 percent case fatality rate, the number of those who have recovered from the illness has climbed to 4,26,30,852. The total number of pills delivered as part of the statewide COVID-19 vaccination programme has topped 194.12 crore across the country.

India's COVID-19 total exceeded 20 lakh on August 7, 2020, with 30 lakh on August 23, 40 lakh on September 5, and 50 lakh on September 16.

On September 28, it surpassed the 60 lakh level, then the 70 lakh mark on October 11, the 80 lakh mark on October 29, the 90 lakh mark on November 20, and finally the 1 crore mark on December 19. Last year, the country crossed the 2 crore milestone on May 4 and the 3 crore mark on June 23.
