The Emergency Budget Support program’s overarching purpose is to provide a bulwark and enhance the healthcare system so that the spread of COVID-19 can be curbed. It also aims to reduce the socio-economic impact of the coronavirus’s crisis on businesses and homes.

The expected results of this program are:

  • Containing the virus spread by building of testing, preventative and patient care capacities.
  • Ensuring that there will be an increase of the volume and quantity of public resources which should be allocated to the sector of health.
  • Stabilizing the incomes of households that are vulnerable by the means of increasing purchase power, distribution of food as aid and the provision of social protection.
  • Strengthening resilience of businesses big and small so that the production system is maintained and can lead to rapid recovery of the economy.

With these objectives in mind, Gabon can hope to get back on the road to recovery from the grip of the Coronavirus.
