Fiji sees jump in COVID-19 cases
Over the last few days, Fiji has recorded more and more COVID_19 cases which brings the total caseload to 65,000 in the island nation, and this figure is from the start of March 2020 to date.
The Health Ministry of Fiji has now recorded 95 new instances of COVID-19 since Thursday of previous week, and of these 95 new cases, 46 of them were reported last Saturday.
The Fiji ministry has encouraged all children to go ahead and take the vaccination, saying that if children are vaccinated, it will reduce COVID-19’s potency to affect other people and prevent another outbreak in the island nation.
From the 2nd of July, pediatric doses of the COVID-19 vaccine will be delivered to children between the ages of 5 and 11.
The Permanent Secretary for Health in Fiji, James Fong has said that the consent of the parents is a necessity for the vaccination to take place. He also said that vaccination of children is not at all compulsory but would depend on the ministry’s justification of the same.
