The Costa Rican government showed a brilliant act by awarding tourists who have been inspirational and help to others during the challenging initial months of confinement.

In the “Who is essential to you?” contest, sponsored by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute- 5,800 Americans and Canadians took part. The competition rewarded 15 individuals with a vacation in Costa Rican region from March 2021 through the start of 2022.

The aim of the competition was to choose someone who had been an inspiration in those first initial weeks of confinement and risk, following the onset of the Covid-19 epidemic.

Canadian computer technician Lukas Beck won a 7-day holiday to Costa Rica after being the idol for his wife Barbara Beck in harsh periods of quarantine, sickness, and death from the Covid-19 epidemic.
