Burundi sees fresh uptick of COVID-19 cases.
Vumbi, a health district in the province of Kirundo in Burundi, has recorded more than 40 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 48 hours. According to local accounts, the administration in the medical center of Vumbi has done nothing to stop this pandemic from spreading across the country from April this year.
The Public Health Ministry says that 44 persons tested positive for Covid-19 out of the 439 who were tested in the Vumbi health area on the 2nd and 3rd.
76 patients in 24 of Burundi’s 49 health districts came back positive for Covid-19 over this 48-hour period. This research states that 72 of the persons who screened positive for Covid-19 are from the local population, whereas just four are foreign visitors.
In addition, this research reveals that 46 health care personnel are among these additional positive cases. More than 14,000 individuals across the country have gotten at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine, including 13,811 who are fully vaccinated, according to the same study.
No matter how many positive cases there have been since April 18, 2022, according to this report from the Public Health Ministry, the Vumbi department of health in Kirundo province is still under threat from the Covid-19 pandemic. As the pandemic continues to spread across the country, our local sources tell us that the administration is doing little to stop it.
