On Wednesday, Saudi Arabia documented more than 1,000 COVID-19 cases for the first time since the virus was discovered there in February 2020. According to Arab News, there were a total of 1,029 new cases that day.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia's capital, had 341 reports, while Jeddah, Dammam, Makkah, and Madinah each received 190. In addition, additional localities filed fewer than 35 cases, bringing the total number of complaints filed to nearly 1,000.

The health ministry has announced further deaths, bringing the total to 9,163. The total number of recoveries is now at 716, with 756,871 people recovering from the highly contagious illness. The Saudi Kingdom and authorities have widely distributed the COVID-19 vaccine to 25 million people as part of its immunization program.
