Covid-19 strikes back in Iraq

There have been 515 new instances of COVID-19 which were recorded in Iraq on Monday June 20, according to the country's health ministry. This compelled it to declare a new wave of the Covid-19 infection. 

This year's positive cases and the number of those sick in hospitals have increased significantly, according to a statement from the ministry.

There has been a resurgence of infections due to a lack of vaccination against COVID-19, despite vaccinations being readily available in Baghdad and other regions of Iraq, as well as poor health-prevention practices.

The government urged people to be vaccinated as soon as possible and to take personal and societal precautions to prevent disease. The disease first appeared in Iraq at the beginning of 2020.

After allowing emergency use of China's Sinopharm vaccine and other COVID-19 medications in January 2021, the immunization effort in Iraq has picked up speed significantly.

China has supplied vaccines and medical supplies to Iraq in order to fight the Covid pandemic in the country.
