Following the finding of at least 16 instances of Covid-19 infections in areas near North Korea, which is currently dealing with the worst medical emergencies it has faced in years, China has issued a warning that Covid-19 infections could spread over the entire mainland of China.

On Thursday, the authorities identified seven infections in the Jilin province located in the north-eastern part of the country, in addition to nine cases in the Liaoning province located nearby. On Friday, officials with the National Health Commission stated that the source of the cases in Jilin is unknown and that the virus could spread further. Jilin shares a lengthy and sometimes national border with N.korea. They indicated that more procedures would be taken to prevent cases from being imported, but they did not provide any further details.
