13 COVID deaths and 3,896 cases in New Jersey; vaccinations for children under the age of five may be available soon

On the same day that the White House authorized a start date for children under the age of five to get the vaccine, New Jersey reported 3,896 COVID-19 positive tests and 13 deaths.

If federal officials accept the age group, children under the age of five might get their first vaccines as early as June 21.

The White House COVID-19 coordinator, Aashish Jha, addressed administration intentions for the last ineligible age group. On June 14-15, the FDA's outside panel of experts will evaluate Pfizer and Moderna injections for younger children.

The seven-day confirmed case average in New Jersey was 3,007 on Friday, down 19% from the previous week but up 36% from the previous month.

The transmission rate on Thursday was 0.96. When the transmission rate goes below one, the number of new cases decreases.

As of Thursday night, 924 patients had confirmed or suspected coronavirus in the state's 71 hospitals. Hospitalizations have decreased from a peak of 6,089 on January 10 during the omicron wave.

There were 113 hospitalised patients in ICU and 46 on ventilators. According to state figures, 169 people were discharged in the 24 hours that ended Thursday.

The favourable rating on Sunday was 17.32 percent.

Transmission rates are "high" in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Sussex, and Warren.

The CDC advises that people in high-risk areas use masks indoors and on public transportation and stay immunised.

Medium-risk counties are Bergen, Cumberland, Essex, Hudson, Middlesex, Passaic, Somerset, and Union. Masks are not required at medium or low places.

Since its first case on March 4, 2020, New Jersey has reported 2,065,040 confirmed COVID-19 cases out of more than 17.8 million PCR tests.

In addition, the Garden State has recorded 342,609 possible antigen or rapid testing. Numerous occurrences, including at-home positive tests, have very certainly gone uncounted.

The 9.2 million-person state reported 33,755 COVID-19 fatalities, 30,686 confirmed and 3,069 probable.

Coronavirus deaths per capita in New Jersey rank ninth in the United States, below Mississippi, Arizona, Oklahoma, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, and West Virginia. Last summer, the state had the highest per capita fatality rate.

According to a new study, even a small incidence of COVID-19 may impair the brain. Long COVID affects 10 to 30% of those who get the condition, whether it is mild or severe. 600,000 of the more than 2 million persons in New Jersey who have tested positive for COVID since the pandemic have or have had long-term COVID.

VACCINE FIGURES

More than 6.93 million of New Jersey's 8.46 million eligible people have received the first round of immunizations, and more than 7.8 million have received a first dose since December 15, 2020.

Boosters are available for more than 3.79 million eligible Texans. On Tuesday, the FDA approved booster shots for healthy children aged 5 to 11. As diseases resurface, US regulators have authorised a booster immunisation for children.

LTC NUMBER OF SCHOOLS

57.8 percent of schools reported 10,948 COVID-19 instances among professionals (3,066) and students (3,948) for the week ending May 22. (7,882).

Since the start of the school year, New Jersey has had 135,409 students and 40,649 school professionals contract COVID-19, but no more than two-thirds of school districts have provided information in any given week.

Total student and staff cases are reported separately from in-school transmission cases, which are linked by contact tracing.

In New Jersey, there were 924 in-school outbreaks, with 6,631 student and staff infections. Since May 31, there have been 48 new outbreaks. There were 69 school breakouts the previous week.

According to state data, there were at least 9,114 COVID-19 deaths among nursing home patients and personnel.

There were active outbreaks in 367 facilities, resulting in 4,034 resident cases and 3,753 staff infections.

GLOBALISATION

According to Johns Hopkins University, as of Friday, more than 6.29 million people have died as a result of COVID-19.

The United States has the highest number of cases (84.5 million) and deaths (1,008,063)

11.38 billion vaccine doses have been administered globally.
