WHO Director-General hailed for his leadership role by Qatar’s Minister of Health

H.E. Dr. Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari, Minister of Public Health, met with World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General H.E. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus yesterday at the WHO headquarters in Geneva.

The Minister congratulated the WHO Director-General on his reelection to a second term and wished him continued success in his work for the benefit of the WHO.

According to Dr. Al Kuwari, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus was re-elected because of his leadership during the COVID-19 epidemic, as well as his efforts to improve health systems and implement WHO priorities globally. Her Excellency also congratulated him on the success of the 75th World Health Assembly, which was held from May 22 to 28 and was attended by a Qatari delegation.

The discussion focused on examining aspects of Qatar-WHO cooperation in several health disciplines, as well as the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 health partnership, which aims to ensure the organization of a healthy and safe World Cup in Qatar that will serve as a model for future big sporting events.
