Health Minister Dr. Ghabbash met with Tedros Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), to discuss methods for improving cooperation on safeguarding medical equipment and providing health care services.

Ghabbash mentioned the challenges that Syria faces as a result of the terrorist war and unilateral coercive measures targeting many sectors of vital services and the economy, such as healthcare.

The Minster updated Ghebreyesus on the health situation in the illegally occupied Syrian Golan, as well as the suffering of its residents from the Israeli occupation's discriminatory policies that restrict their basic rights to health.

The WHO Director-General praised Syria's efforts to safeguard its people from the COVID-19 epidemic, and pledged the Organization's commitment to assist Syria in strengthening its health sector.
