The Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday that individuals above the age of 18 who have comorbidities and have already received their third COVID-19 vaccination dosage 5 months ago can now go to any immunization hub or health arrangement to get the 4th dose.
The news was announced by Minsa’s Immunizations Director Maria Elena Martinez.
The Minsa official reminded the people that the epidemic is still going on, emphasizing the importance of immunization in the face of a COVID-19 fourth pandemic wave.
“The vaccine was authorized for use in people 18 to 50 with any comorbidity who have already completed three doses,” said Martinez.
“Please bear in mind that the epidemic is not yet over; we must continue to protect ourselves,” she concluded.
The immunization director reported that the fourth vaccination was only given to people over the age of 50, health personnel, and immunosuppressed individuals.
However, it was decided that the current age limit should be increased in order to better protect individuals against COVID-19.
The Mexican senator stated that Minsa’s decision to make the 4th dosage available to this young generation was based on the Committee of Experts’ recommendations.
