According to a study released by the Ministry of Public Health on Monday, Uruguay recorded 9,184 new covid-19 infections and 24 fatalities from the illness in the first week of June (MSP).

As per the paper, 34,072 tests were conducted during that time period, with a positive rate of 20.6 per cent, resulting in a total of 934,961 illnesses since March 13, 2020.



Currently, 7,661 persons are infected with the illness. Furthermore, 66.2 per cent of critical care beds are full, with 4.7 per cent of those hospitalised for the coronavirus.



Finally, 24 persons died of the sickness in the week of May 29 to June 4, bringing the total number of deaths to 7,661 since the outbreak began.

As per another epidemiological report from the portfolio, the disease had a case fatality rate of 0.79 in the country until May 21 and a mortality rate of 204.76 per 100,000 inhabitants in the general population, with the case fatality rate being higher in men (0.92 per cent) than in women (0.92
