The state news agency in the United Arab Emirates, WAM (Emirates News Agency), has reported 1,085 new cases of COVID-19 in the country. This marks the highest daily toll of new infections since the start of the year, around February.

Last week, June 10th, marked the second day during which the daily number of COVID infection cases had surpassed the undesired 1000-mark. A similar figure around the 1000-mark was last recorded about four months ago in the UAE.

The WAM also included recent recovery figures in its report, which has reached around 876 in the nation. The absence of any COVID-19-related fatalities yesterday marked a positive sign.

To date, around 915,068 cases of COVID-19 have been reported in the UAE. The recovery figures from COVID-19 stand at 897,324. About 2,305 people have lost their lives due to COVID-related complications in the nation.

The trend of rising COVID-19 cases is being witnessed in other Middle Eastern countries too, such as Saudi Arabia, besides the UAE. The upsurging of COVID case reports comes at a time when, weeks before, the UAE announced that it had achieved a 100-percent vaccination rate across all targeted categories in the country.
