UAE enforces mask-wearing as COVID-19 cases increase

The UAE has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations on a daily basis, forcing authorities to tighten the system of heavy penalties for those not wearing masks in all indoor places.

"In less than a week, the country has seen a more than 100% increase in COVID-19 infections. It was also observed that the number of cases for hospitalisation has increased ." According to the official spokesman for the National Crisis and Emergency Management Authority (NCEMA).

In a week, the number of infections in the UAE has increased more than twice as 1,319 infections were reported.

"We would insist you to wear a masks in enclosed areas. Failure to wear a face mask is an offence punishable by a fine of up to AED 3,000 under Public Prosecution Decision No. (38) of 2020. The competent teams will impose strict monitoring, " Al Amiri stated.

The official UAE app for COVID-19 registration has informed that  the Green Pass validity has been brought down to 14 days from earlier 30 days under the new rules." This decision is intended to make sure about the correctness of detection and to encourage periodic examinations.

The green pass  will be activated for all clusters on June 15 2022, and for educational workers and students on  June 20, 2022, following the conclusion of the examination period," The NCEMA spokesman stated.
