Two More COVID-19-Related Deaths, Active Cases Continue to Drop

The island has reported two more deaths in the latest COVID-19 surge, which is gradually declining.

As per the latest report from the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHS), during the period 12:01 p.m. Tuesday, May 24, 2022, to noon Thursday, May 26, 2022, more than 17 Covid-19 cases were reported (8 on Wednesday and 9 on Thursday). All of these new infections are locally transmitted.

The Government Information Unit claims that more than 50 patients have recovered during the period of reporting.

Sadly, two COVID-19-related deaths were recorded during the May 24, 2022 – May 26, 2022 reporting period. On May 25, 2022, one male and one female died. The Ministry will provide further information on these COVID-19-related fatalities. Investigations into the causes of death of two people who had COVID-19 at the time of their deaths are continuing as previously announced by the Ministry on May 24.

More than 58 patients have covid in Montserrat and 207 in quarantine.

The public is reminded that COVID-19 may be fatal and cause long-term consequences or death. People should take every precaution to avoid catching the virus by following good hygiene, using masks in public places, following quarantine and isolation procedures, and getting vaccinated against this potentially lethal virus.
