The Tokyo Metropolitan Government reported 3,317 new coronavirus cases on Sunday, down 147 from Saturday and 31 from the previous Sunday.
The number of infected people hospitalized in Tokyo with severe symptoms has remained unchanged since Saturday, according to health officials. The national total is 92, a decrease of nine from Saturday.
The total number of reported cases in the United States was 31,457. Following Tokyo, the following prefectures had the most cases: Osaka (2,253), Hokkaido (2,065), Kanagawa (1,918), Aichi (1,847), Fukuoka (1,801), Okinawa (1,750), Hyogo (1,371), Saitama (1,182), Hiroshima (1,037), Chiba (1,007), Shizuoka (869), Kyoto (856), Okayama (640), (186).
There were 18 coronavirus-related deaths reported across the country.
