A case that replicates the symptoms of monkeypox has been found in Mauritius.
The patient, a 39-year-old man who lives in the southern part of the island returned from a vacation in India last month. Lesions are the medical term for the warning spots he discovered on various parts of his body. Noticing them, he went to the Rose-Belle hospital and checked himself in.
The health authorities are investigating it as a probable instance of monkeypox. Diagnoses were made after the 39-year-old patient was sent to the Souillac hospital and underwent a series of tests. The samples had to be sent to La Réunion in order to conduct the study. Public access to the findings will be available in less than 24 hours.
According to what we’ve been told, the patient was allowed to return home. A member of the Ministry of Health’s Rapid Response Team stood by his side. He now self-isolated at his residence.
Despite his lesions, the patient is claimed to be doing well overall, according to the Ministry of Health.
