On Friday, the authorities in Australia said that they had found what they believe to be a case of monkeypox infection in a traveller who had just recently returned from Europe. Testing to confirm the diagnosis is currently underway.

The New South Wales (NSW) state health agency reported that a man in his forties who had recently returned to Sydney experienced a moderate sickness several days after his return with symptoms that were clinically compatible with monkeypox. The man and a household contact are quarantining themselves at the house.
