Several Vilimale’ Hospital employees have been placed on leave after it was discovered that they were providing children vaccines that were no longer valid.

According to a representative for Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which operates the Vilimale’ Hospital, employees involved in the scandal have been suspended.

However, the official was unable to say how many staff had been suspended.

Vilimale’ MP Ahmed Usham tweeted on Thursday that he had received multiple complaints from his constituents stating that their children had gotten expired vaccines from the Vilimale’ Hospital.

Following the discovery of the case, IGMH and the Health Protection Agency issued a statement on Friday noting that the Vilimale’ Hospital had halted giving immunizations and that the incident was being investigated as a major concern by IGMH and the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

According to images provided by Usham, the vaccines in question were manufactured in February 2020 and will expire in January 2022. The vaccine’s kind, on the other hand, was unknown.
