The Red Cross of Monaco Mobilizes for Response in Ukraine: Providing Assistance and Funds for those Affected by the Crisis

The Red Cross in Monaco is continuing its mobilization efforts in regard to the situation in Ukraine.

In addition to the collection of cash, the Monaco Red Cross is making its experience in crisis management available on a worldwide as well as a local scale.

In the midst of the excitement, a group representing the Monaco Red Cross makes their way out onto the field.

On the morning of Wednesday, April 20th, a group from the Monaco Red Cross boarded a plane and headed to Romania. As part of the establishment of a logistics center in Suceava, this activity is being carried out in collaboration with the Italian Red Cross (IRC).

In order to ensure that the operation is carried out without any problems, CRM will provide the International Rescue Committee with a financial contribution of 220,000 Euros in addition to their involvement in the project.

The Monaco Chapter of the Red Cross has organized a fundraising effort to assist those whose lives have been disrupted by the violence in Ukraine.

As soon as the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement issued a call for contributions in response to the armed conflict in Ukraine, the Monaco Red Cross, in solidarity with the Movement, promptly replied by collecting cash for individuals who had been harmed by the fighting. It has been determined that there is a total of 1,560,000 euros in available funding.

Out of these funds, 600,000 Euros have been allotted to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to be used for emergency relief, the repair of essential infrastructure, the supply of healthcare facilities with medications and equipment, and the assistance of families with food, water, and sanitary supplies.

The International Federation for the Red Cross (IFRC) has been given the equivalent of €350,000 to assist refugees who are being affected by the turmoil in the region. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is offering assistance to some of the most vulnerable people on the planet, including children who are orphaned or separated from their families, elderly people, and people with disabilities.

In addition to efforts taken on a global scale, a number of initiatives on a regional scale, in which the Red Cross plays a role, have been carried out, including the following:

The collaboration that exists between the Government of Monaco and the Monaco Red Cross has been the foundation for the actions that have been implemented in response to the crisis in Ukraine.

Aid administrative, which covers the procedures for filing a statement to the Sûreté Publique, applications for financial assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, and requests for education for child refugees 

In addition to the measures described above, the following services are also offered: assistance for adults to learn the French language in partnership with the Alliance Francaise; financial assistance from the social services of the Red Cross; and psychological assistance from the medico-psychological emergency unit of the CHPG and the counselling services of the Monaco Red Cross.
