The fifth Covid vaccine will not be implemented, according to the Ministry of Public Health

The Department of Disease Control in Thailand announced on Monday that it had no plans to introduce a fifth Covid-19 vaccine.

The Ministry of Public Health is still determining if a fifth shot is necessary, and if so, whether it is safe and effective.

According to DDC director-general Opas Karnkawinpong, concerned members of the public, particularly those who need to travel to China or Japan, should consult their doctors. For international travellers, China requires two Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccinations, whereas Japan requires three vaccinations, one of which must be an mRNA vaccine.

People who have received four doses but still have insufficient coronavirus protection due to personal health conditions may be encouraged to have a fifth shot, albeit this should be discussed with a doctor.

The government's plans to deploy a fifth shot because the stock is nearly depleted have been disproved.

According to Supoj Malaniyom, chief of the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, people should not be concerned about expiration dates because expired immunizations would not be distributed.

Those in need of a fifth shot can visit the Central Vaccination Centre at Bang Sue Grand Station. Vaccines are available at the institution for everyone aged 5 and up. Every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the service is available.
