Dr. Riad Haddad, Syria's ambassador to Russia, met with Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko to examine prospective collaboration between the Syrian and Russian ministries of health.

The meeting is being held in advance of a Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs delegation's upcoming visit to Syria to sign a bilateral cooperation agreement in the fields of medicine and medical equipment manufacturing, as well as a new agreement on training Syrian doctors in Russia, according to Haddad.

At the World Health Organization (WHO) sessions in Bahrain, Murashko praised Syria for its recent support for Russia.

He emphasised Russia's intention to strengthen ties between the two countries' ministries, notably in regards to the provision of COVID-19 vaccinations to Syria.
