More than 60,000 cases of dengue fever were reported by June 16, a 97% rise from the previous year. 80% of dengue cases nationwide and 100% of dengue deaths reported have occurred in the south.

As per Vương Ánh Dương, Deputy Director of the Ministry of Healthcare Department of Medical Service Administration, severe dengue cases have risen fast this year. In earlier years, most dengue deaths were among adults.

“People are still subjective about dengue fever. Dengue patients often visit private medical facilities or buy treatment before going to the hospital.” Dương said.
