Singapore to consolidate COVID-19 testing, vaccinations from end-May

Singapore to consolidate COVID-19 testing and vaccinations, replacing vaccination centers with Joint Testing and Vaccination Centres by end-May. Over 80,000 vaccinations were administered per day at the peak, now reduced to about 10,000 per day. Five centres are opening initially, with the Bishan centre offering the new Novavax vaccine. More centres may follow suit.

Singapore will replace its vaccination centres with Joint Testing and Vaccination Centres by the end of the month, as most of the population has been immunised against COVID-19. On Tuesday, five of these centres will open.

Leong Jia Yu reporting from Singapore said that at the height of the vaccination programme over 80,000 vaccinations were administered per day. That has now dropped to about 10,000 per day. Joint testing and vaccination centres are available to the public in Jurong East, Bishan, Pasir Ris, Kaki Bukit and Commonwealth. For now the Bishan centre is the only one to use the new Novavax vaccine. The situation will be monitored and further joint testing and vaccination centres may also use Novavax.
