QRCS gives out food parcels to families in Gaza affected by COVID-19

In Palestine, the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) provided food parcels to many Palestinian families in Gaza as part of an emergency assistance program for families directly affected by the Coronavirus pandemic, which received more than QR 1 million in aid, as situations became stressful for many during and after the lockdown, especially due to COVID-19 cases rising and lingering effects of the hard times.

Dr. Akram Nassar, the head of QRCS's representation office in Gaza, spoke about how the organization worked with the Ministry of Social Development to help poor people who have been affected by the pandemic by disbursing 5,065 food parcels to approximately 30,000 people, which included patients, the elderly, people with disabilities, and other vulnerable people.

He went on to say that the food shipments included all of Gaza's governorates, with each package comprising 13 basics such as milk, rice, vegetable oil, jam, pasta, and sugar.

Several humanitarian actions have been undertaken by QRCS in Gaza in response to the Coronavirus pandemic. There were also thermometers, COVID-19 test strips, cleaners, disinfectants, and food parcels provided, all costing a total of QR 1,744,000.
