Despite the fact that no instances have been reported in the Philippines, Rene Jose de Grano, president of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, Inc. (PHAPI), issued a warning to his members and other government authorities on Saturday.

"What we are monitoring are symptoms like fever, muscle ache, kulani at rashes na characteristic sa purportedly na monkeypox," de Grano said in a Laging Handa briefing.

If a case is reported, the patient would be relocated to a separate ward and provided supportive therapy, according to him.

"(Dahil) wala pa namang immunisation for this illness," he continued, "so ang gagawin natin ay isolation followed by supportive care."
