Norway is unlikely to provide a fourth Covid vaccine dose to people under the age of 45

Norway unlikely to provide fourth Covid vaccine dose for people under 45. Health officials indicate that only those above 65 and in disadvantaged populations may receive a booster dose. No additional jabs suggested for healthy individuals under 45. Duration of the pandemic and circulation of new variants will determine if annual vaccines will be given to the oldest.

Also, TV2 reported that health officials are unlikely to give a fourth Covid vaccine to people under the age of 45 this autumn.

"For now, no additional jabs will be suggested for healthy people below the age of 45," Preben Aavitsland, Chief Physician at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH), informed TV2.

On Wednesday, NTB was notified that health officials would make a formal guideline for next autumn and winter near the end of summer.

In a letter sent to communities earlier in the month, the NIPH stated that one of the most probable scenario would be for local governments to provide a booster dose to those above the age of 65 and those in disadvantaged populations.

Aavitsland informed TV2 that eventually, the oldest might be given an annual vaccine. The chief physician stated that this would depend on the duration of the pandemic and the circulation of new variants.
