The Covid-19 PCR test is no longer required for fully vaccinated incoming passengers in Malawi. This is the situation, according to a press statement issued by the country's Presidential Task Force on Corona Virus on May 19, 2022. On June 1, 2022, the new entrance standards will take effect. Incoming visitors must comply with the following travel requirements:

  • If incoming tourists, including Malawians, are fully vaccinated and have a digital Covid-19 vaccination certificate, they will no longer be required to present a Covid-19 PCR test certificate prior to entering Malawi.
  • Any entering tourists, including Malawians, who are not fully vaccinated or do not have a valid electronic verifiable Covid-19 full vaccination certificate will be required to provide a negative PCR-based Covid-19 test certificate that is less than 72 hours old at the time of arrival in Malawi.
  • Depending on the destination country's rules, outgoing passengers will need a Covid-19 PCR test certificate and/or a full Covid-19 vaccination certificate.
