The security in Tamil Nadu will be enhanced, while Pune and Mumbai will each have their own Special Police Unit.
Monkeypox updates: Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra are all developing methods to stop the illness from spreading across their states and into India. The administration has been on high alert since the recent breakout of the viral infection, which is common in West and Central Africa, Europe, and other parts of the world. Cases have been reported in 14 different countries.
Tamil Nadu’s health secretary has written to district collectors asking an increase in monkeypox surveillance. Unusual rashes, recent travel to a place where monkeypox is known or suspected, and testified contact with confirmed or doubted monkeypox patients will all be kept an eye on.
To isolate suspected monkeypox patients, the Mumbai Corporation has created a 28-bed facility at Kasturba Hospital for Infectious Diseases in Chinchpokli. According to the BMC’s public health department, there have been no confirmed cases in the city yet, but hospitals have been advised to be cautious.
Rajasthan’s health department has instructed inspectors to perform comprehensive examinations of visitors and send any potentially infected samples to the National Institute of Virology in Pune.
• Passengers arriving in Rajasthan from Europe, Australia, the United States, and Canada would be subjected to a screening process, according to Rajasthan government instructions. Contact tracing will be carried out if a suspected traveller’s allegation is confirmed.
• The UK Health Security Agency has advised immunosuppressed people, pregnant women, and children under the age of 12 to avoid contact with any sick person or suspected case (UKHSA). Immunizations are being offered to close relatives of those who have been infected with the virus, and they are being advised to isolate for up to 21 days.
