On Wednesday, the Portugual’s health authority DGS announced 19 new monkeypox infections, bringing the total of confirmed cases to 119 in one of the leading epicenters of the current episode. Spain identified 12 additional infections on Monday, bringing its total to 132.

The health officials revealed that all verified cases of the relatively mild viral illness had been discovered in men, with most under the age of 40.

Outside of central and west Africa, where it is native, the United Kingdom, Spain, and Portugal have the most monkeypox cases.

The cases are still under clinical monitoring, with all patients remaining healthy and none having been admitted in hospital, according to the health agency.
