Medical cannabis prescriptions should roll out faster in Cyprus

There are hundreds of people in Cyprus who suffer from chronic ailments and rely on medicinal cannabis. Sadly the prescription system is moving at a snail pace, which makes them suffer, in the real meaning of this word.

A significant number of these individuals receive their medical cannabis either from Israel, dubious websites, or in some other unlawful manner.

According to Demetris Lambrianides, a spokesman for the Patients' Associations of Cyprus, there are hundreds of chronic patients who require medical cannabis. "We regret to inform you that we have made zero progress in expediting the procedure. People who suffer from chronic diseases cannot benefit from medical cannabis in a timely manner.”

People suffering from cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, and other neurological disorders, such as multiple sclerosis, are the types of patients who utilize medical cannabis.

Prescriptions are now transmitted electronically straight to the Ministry of Health, where they wait to be cleared. The process of giving a patient their medication is usually laborious and unpleasant in the majority of circumstances.
