The Africa CDC reported that 579 million of the 818 million doses of Covid-19 vaccination had been administered.

Mauritius was pointed out as being one of the African states with the most administered vaccines. More than 35% of the population has been inoculated in ten African countries.

When asked by reporters at his weekly press briefing on Thursday about the availability of booster doses, interim Africa CDC director Ahmed Ogwell said that 37 African countries give them to various age groups, while Tunisia and South Africa offer them to people aged 50 years or older.

Covid-19 booster doses should be given to people who have already received full vaccination coverage, according to Ogwell.
