 Just 0.1% of population with vaccines in Burundi

Burundi's Covid-19 vaccination rate remains low with only 0.1% of the population fully vaccinated, according to recent data. The Ministry of Public Health reports that 13,000 individuals have received vaccinations, with 12,800 fully vaccinated. The country aims to achieve the World Health Organization's target of vaccinating 70% of its population by mid-2022.

Burundi has vaccinated thirteen thousand persons against Covid-19 since October 18, 2021, according to a report from the Ministry of Public Health and the Fight Against AIDS dated May 18, 2022.

According to the same data, 12,800 persons were completely vaccinated, accounting for 0.10 percent of the overall population. Seven hundred and forty-six health personnel have been immunized. Seven hundred and twenty-nine persons were fully vaccinated, resulting in a vaccination coverage rate of 7%.

On Wednesday, May 18, 131 persons were vaccinated, including 7 at Sinopharm and 124 at Janssen.

Burundi has recorded 38,110 cases of Covid-19 from the community (91.2 percent) and 3,660 imported cases since the pandemic began on March 31, 2020. (8.8 percent ).

The WHO (World Health Organization) has set a goal for each country to vaccinate 70% of its population by the middle of 2022.
