The health ministry reported Friday that there have been 9,429 new instances of COVID-19 throughout Italy in the last 24 hours, with 40 more victims of the virus. On Thursday, there were 17,193 new cases and 79 new victims.
70,689 additional tests had been performed, compared to 181,055 on Thursday. The percentage of those who are positive has increased from 9.5 percent to 13.3 percent.
Intensive care cases have decreased by one to 225, but hospital admissions have increased by 55 to 4,644.
The current positive reading is 648,056.
The total number of people who have been rescued and released is 16,652,711, an increase of 17,496 from Thursday.
Since the outbreak began, there have been 17,467,642 cases and 166,875 deaths.
