Kazinform learned from the ministry’s press service that Kazakhstan’s Minister of Healthcare Azhar Giniyat met with India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Culture Meenakshi Lekhi during the latter’s first visit to Nur-Sultan.
Even during talks, the parties studied the idea of mutually beneficial cooperation between Kazakhstan and India in the field of healthcare, based on a memorandum signed in 2011 between Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Healthcare and India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
The parties then expressed mutual interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in healthcare, particularly in organizing pharmaceutical production on Kazakhstani soil.
During the meeting, Minister Giniyat disclosed Kazakhstan’s plan to increase the share of local content in the pharmaceutical industry to 50% by 2025.
Offtake agreements, she believes, are one of the most effective tools for achieving that lofty goal.
Finally, the parties expressed their willingness to strengthen and expand their healthcare cooperation.
