Cambodia is accelerating its tourism recovery efforts, with the Ministry of Tourism reporting more than 290,000 visitors across the country last weekend.

According to Thong Khon, Minister of Tourism, Cambodia received 294,444 tourists between June 4 and 6. There were 275,734 domestic tourists and 18,710 international tourists among them. The Minister went on to say that this amount is 7.45 percent higher than the previous week’s numbers.

According to the Ministry, the most popular tourist attractions in Cambodia are Preah Sihanouk (59,403), Kampot (37,747), and Phnom Penh.

Battambang, with 36,369 tourists, is the most visited city in Cambodia.

  • With 28,138 tourists recorded in Siem Reap,
  • With 24,652 tourists documented in Phnom Penh,
  • Pursat has a total of 16,469 tourists.
  • With 14,249 tourists documented in Kampong Speu,
  • There were 13,444 tourists documented in Kep.

Despite an almost global monkeypox concern, foreign tourists continue to flock to Cambodia. To avoid an outbreak, countries have begun checking persons entering their borders. Cambodia’s Ministry of Health has stated that the government will be on the lookout for any suspected cases within the country.
