In less than a week, two more COVID-19 deaths have occurred in SVG

Two more COVID-19 deaths reported in Saint Vincent and Grenadines, bringing the total fatalities to 108. Both victims were unvaccinated and had underlying diseases. The country had been COVID-free for nearly 3 months before these recent cases.

Saint Vincent and Grenadines have reported two more Covid-19 deaths since last week, bringing the total count of fatalities to 108 from 106 since February.

Updates from the ministry published on May 30 and 31 show that the recent victims are two 70-year-olds, a woman and a man, both with underlying diseases and unvaccinated.

The male was Covid-19 positive on May 26 and died at the Chateaubelair SMART hospital after being brought there. Covid-19 pneumonia was recorded as the cause of death.

On May 24, the female patient was tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital's designated ward (MCMH). Covid-19 pneumonia was also the reason for her death.

The island was Covid-free for almost 3 months. The last victim of the disease before this was a 92-year-old unvaccinated female who also succumbed due to Covid-19 pneumonia. Currently, the death toll in the country stands at 108 and more than 8500 have recovered.

They were 127 positive cases on May 31 and four of them were in hospitals, 3 of whom were vaccinated and one was unvaccinated.

The Ministry of Health has given 71,004 doses of Covid-19 vaccines to children in Zimbabwe. 36,573 were first doses, 30,654 are second doses, and 3,777 are boosters.
