Performance comparison of 10 SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Self Tests
We collected 9 different brands of competing products (1) Indicaid, (2) Panbio, (3) Hotgen, (4) AESKU, (5) FlowFlex, (6) BGI YHLO, (7) Jinwofu, (8) Wondfu, (9) Hecin (herein after named a, b, c, d, e ,f, g ,h, i), and performed sensitivity verification, detection performance verification for variant strains, and specificity verification on them.
At the same time, the exact same validation was carried out on the SARS-CoV-2 Rapid Antigen Test produced by Medriva to compare the performance of these SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test Cassettes. The verification results indicate that in overall highest sensitivity, highest detection of omicron & delta strains, and highest specificity verification indeed is the Medriva COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test.
Sensitivity verification
Dilute the inactivated virus culture solution with extraction buffer and test 10 brands of SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette respectively. The Sample adding Volume is 65 μL. Record the results and dilution ratios at the corresponding interpretation time. The concentration goes from high to low until all brands of reagents are undetectable.
From the results below, the most sensitive SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette brands are brand “d” and Medriva
Detection performance verification for variant strains
Dilute the inactivated virus cultures of Delta variant strains and omicron variant strains with extraction buffer at the following ratios: 1:10000, 1:20000, 1:40000, 1:80000. 10 brands of SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassettes were then tested with diluted samples, Record the results and dilution ratios at the corresponding interpretation time.
From the results below, for the mutant strains Delta & Omicron, the best test SARS- CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette brands are brand “a”, brand “d”, and brand “Medriva”.
Specificity verification
We have collected 9 brands of SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassettes, together with the “Medriva” brand SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette produced by our company, for specificity verification. After that, we found 50 subjects, who were confirmed to be negative for the SARS-CoV-2virus twice in a row by PCR. Nasal swab samples from these subjects were then validated using 10 brands of SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette
From the results below, The SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Rapid test cassette brands with better specificity include brand “b”, brand “c”, brand “e”, brand “f”, brand “h”, brand “i”, brand “Medriva”.
